Last week we were present at International Charter Expo (ICE), the most renowned show in its category, joining charters, brokers and suppliers within the industry. The show took place on Zagreb Fair from the 7th to the 9th of December. Different international, boating stakeholders joined the event, from Croatia, Italy, Spain, Greece, France, the Netherlands and more. Discover our experience in the text below and find out which sustainable practices we encountered on ICE.
Hall 5 on Zagreb Fair got filled by charter companies, brokers/ agencies and suppliers such as propulsion providers, sail makers and boatbuilders. On the first floor there was a special luxury segment for super yacht charter and provision agencies. One could schedule their meetings on ICE beforehand via their innovative platform Handshake. Handshake allows scheduling meetings and filtering available stakeholders by country, company type, fleet size & location and more. In this practical example, digitalization helped us find the right partners to meet and give us some preliminary information. On the Handshake platform one fills their profile with key information about themselves and the company. Meetings could have taken place either at the exhibition booth or in one of the two available lounges. The fair organizers made water, tea and coffee free of charge, to minimize waiting cues and to make the meetings more efficient.
One of the exhibitors who caught our eye with sustainability is the company Biovalley which produces single-use, recyclable bed linen. All the materials are being produced in Poland, which reduces the negative environmental impact of international shipping. The linen is being produced according to ISO 9001, ISO 13485, ISO 14001 and CE standards.
Additionally, the Slovenian company Remigo which produces an innovative outboard engine was also present. Their model RemigoOne got nominated on last year's METS for the 2021 DAME Design Award Special Mention. RemigoOne is an outboard engine of 1000 W, with an easy control system and a module for smart battery management. Their battery system, integrated in the engine's structure, is waiting on its own patent. The engine has the possibility for both AC and DC charging, alongside the possibility for fast charging in 3 hours. Its range is 15 nautical miles, with cruising speed of 3 knots.
The concept of fast meetings was interesting for us, since it allows for efficiency and productivity. Three days of expo allowed us an information and communication flow which would usually be communicated within 5 or 6 days of a show. The organizers also provided dynamic and interesting side content.
The unique experience at ICE joined us with our existing Young Business Professionals @ Misli More, while we got acquainted with new contacts which will be joining us shortly. With the initial meeting at Biograd Boat Show and After Work Networking in November, we are continuing with meetings this week and our first ever Business Brunch.
